OtoSCAN

Digital Ear Scanning

If you require an ear mould we now offer the latest in 3D laser mapping techniques to construct an exact three dimensional digital image of the ear.

Introducing The Otometrics Otoscan

What’s the purpose?
To replace the need for traditional ear mould impressions which up to now has been achieved using a two part silicone material. This was an invasive procedure, which required blocking the ear completely for 5 minutes.

How does Otoscan work?

The Otoscan produces pulses of laser light from two different sources & cameras mounted on the handheld device then measures the reflections of this laser to establish the distance travelled.

By taking thousands of these measurements, the software is able to build the 3D image not only of the outside of the ear, but also along the length of the ear canal.

This creates a much more accurate image than the traditional method, which can then be quickly shared with our manufacturers to make your chosen hearing aid or ear mould.

The procedure

During the procedure, you will be able to see a three dimensional image of your ear building up on the screen.

Follow the progress

The team can also follow the progress of the impression of your ear in real time on the laser’s screen.
