Let’s be honest, insurance, per se, often has a less than positive image, and is simply never appreciated – until the day arrives when you need it! Then, once you are in the position of needing to ‘cash in’ your policy, insurance is the best thing ever, and you wonder why you ever doubted it!
So, consider for a moment what it is that you currently choose to insure. Homes, contents, cars and bikes – of course. Holidays – always. Ourselves and families – for sure. Pets – usually. Our health – yes, a very good idea too. So, it seems, if something is expensive, valuable to us, or life enhancing, we protect it with insurance, because it is so precious, we want to preserve it, or to continue having it’s positive presence in our life. Having gone through a (probably painstaking and lengthy) decision making process to choose the item we want, we don’t want to revert back to life without whatever it was that we purchased in the first place.
What is Insurance?
“…a thing providing protection against a possible eventuality…an arrangement by which a company undertakes to provide a guarantee of compensation for a specified loss or damage… in return for payment of a specified premium…” (Online Dictionary)
Yes, that is indeed a definition, however, it’s actually much more than this. What insurance provides is peace of mind and reassurance, which in turn, reduces stress. When you think about it for a moment, you know that’s true, so let’s put it in the context of hearing aids. Ask yourself if they are expensive to buy, and the answer is ‘yes’, they can be. However, are they valuable? The answer is absolutely yes they are. You may already know that our mantra for our hearing aids is that they keep you “Safe, active and social” and when you think of them in this context, you must conclude that they are indeed life enhancing, and without them, we would lose some of our cherished quality of life.
Most of us are blessed at birth with the five senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. As we age they may become less accurate, or even fail us. In fact, anyone who experienced ‘loss of taste’ as a symptom of Covid will know how exactly how horrid it was to have a sensory impairment, and will have been massively relieved when this temporary loss was restored. So, if your power to hear clearly and reliably starts to falter, you may decide to invest in a hearing aid in order to maximise your ability to hear. Why then would you not insure them? A small premium for all that peace of mind seems a ‘no brainer’. I bet lots of you dear readers and valued clients have dental plans!
