Can hearing aids be recycled?

Yes they can!

Quite a few of my clients ask me what to do with their old hearing aids when they upgrade. It seems such a shame to simply throw them in the bin.

The simple answer is to recycle them and there are various ways you can do this.

Here are some ways to recycle hearing aids:

NHS – The NHS will take back hearing aids that they have provided. More recent ones can be refurbished and used by other patients.
Collection points:

Doctors surgeries also have collection points where you can donate your old hearing aids.

Help the aged will also take your old hearing aids through their shops or you can post them: Help the Aged, FREEPOST, LON13616, London, EC1B 1PS.

Age concern shops are another place where you can drop them off.

Recycling your old hearing aids is great for the environment and also allows you to help others in need. It goes hand in hand with Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

One thing to be aware of though is that your local recycling centre won\’t take them as they are a complex mix of composites and digital engineering.
