Sometimes when a client is getting used to wearing hearing aids, especially for the first time, they can experience slight mild headaches.
Why does this happen?
With hearing loss, it is often the case that your auditory system and brain have not been getting as much stimulation as they once did with normal hearing. So, with your first hearing aids your brain needs to work harder which may cause slight headaches.
However, this will subside at you get used to wearing the hearing aids. In my experience any symptoms of this nature usually subside after about one to two weeks.
Check your hearing aid fitting and settings
In some cases, it may be because something is wrong with the way that hearing aids have been fitted or set up. Perhaps they have been set to loud for your needs and need to be adjusted.
Our thorough Hearing Assessment & fitting process means that the likelihood of you experiencing discomfort will be low as we pride ourselves on recommending the most ideal hearing aid to suit your needs.
Using REM’s (Real Ear Measurements) is the only true way to ensure that your hearing aids are giving you, your hearing and your ears (The shape & size of your ear canal affects the sound provided at your ear drum), we use REM’s to verify that your prescribed hearing aid is giving you the exact prescription you need.
Plus, during the early stages following your fitting we keep in close contact to ensure that you are receiving the best hearing experience with your new hearing aids and, if required, we can adjust them accordingly.
With today’s new digital hearing technology, hearing aids auto-adjust to your surroundings, reducing the need for you to adjust the volume controls yourself and providing a much better and responsive hearing experience. This digital technology also allows Steven Hale to adjust your hearing aids remotely, without the need for you to come into the clinic.
Safe, active and social
The benefits of hearing aids, in terms of allowing you to live a safe, active and social life again, far outweigh the risk of any slight discomfort, that, with our expertise, we will endeavour to resolve for you.
