What is vertigo?
Vertigo is a common condition that affects around 5% of the population in a given year.
Although unpleasant, it tends to last for a short space of time and often follows sudden movement, such as standing up too quickly or encountering heights or unsteady ground. It can feel as though your head or your surroundings are spinning, making you feel light- headed, disorientated and as though you may lose your balance.
No – hearing aids do not cause vertigo.
Vertigo Is often linked with issues with the ear including inner ear problems, or problems with sensory nerve pathway or the brain. And although vertigo and hearing health can be related, there is no known evidence that hearing aids are part of the problem. On the contrary hearing aids can bring about a much-improved social life and interaction with others promoting a sense of health and wellbeing that those with hearing loss may have been missing.
Hearing aids don’t cause vertigo and in fact can certainly help with stability by providing the wearer with additional auditory signals to improve balance.
